MEET THE SHOP CATS

If you ever venture your way to Plumeria Cove and stop to visit Tutu Lole at Tiki Kids, you are sure to be greeted by 3 very friendly cats that Tutu calls her shop cats. If you ask her how they came to be there, she will tell you that she has no idea…”they came with the shop.”
Honu is a mostly white short-haired cat with patches of orange all over him. He is very curious and loves to meet new people, but he won’t come too close until he decides he likes you and that won’t be for 2-3 visits. You will know you made his friend’s list when he rubs against your feet. Honu is the Alpha cat, and he loves to boss the other cats around. If Honu wants something, he usually gets it because he will give the other cats the evil eye until he gets his way.
Uku is what some people like to call a “cow” cat. He also has short hair, is also has mostly white fur with big splotches of black all over him. Everyone is amazed that Uku’s white spots stay so white because his favorite thing to do is roll in the wet sand. If Uku likes you, he will put his paw on your cheek to let you know it’s okay to pet him. He is also a very lazy cat and has his favorite places to lounge around. His favorite spot is the colorful through rug in front of the Dream Shop deck. You can almost always find him there (when he is not rolling in the wet sand).
Coco is the only female of the bunch, and she is a little Diva. She follows Tutu around all day and is the only one of the three that likes to sleep inside. Tutu says everyone thinks Coco is her guardian angel and sleeps with her to watch over her, but Tutu doesn’t believe that. She thinks Coco just likes her comfy warm bed and the snuggles that come with sleeping with her. The only time Coco will stand up to Honu is when it’s time for bed and no one gets to be in Tutu’s bed except Coco.
If you are a new visitor to Tiki Kids, the shop cats will greet you upon arrival and you will be sniffed, maybe licked, and inspected all over. Once you are deemed “safe”, they will go back to what they were doing, which is usually laying around in a patch of sunlight somewhere. Once you have been there a few times and they decide you are a friend, they will still greet you and inspect you, but they will stay and ask for attention and then be your friend forever.
The shop cats are very protective of Tutu Lole and, like her, are part of the mystery of the dream shop. No one knows where any of them came from, when they arrived in Plumeria Cove, or how old they are. Even the oldest local residents say that Tutu, the cats, and the dream shop have always been in Plumeria Cove as long as they can remember.
